Editing and Transitions
Hello welcome back to another blog post! This week we were asked to analyze the editing of a film. I chose an action scene from Deadpool vs Wolverine. I hope you enjoy!

This scene opens with a reverse shot showing the drama about to unfold between the two characters. As the camera switches between the two characters the audience gets a close look at their facial expressions. This helps the audience understand the feelings of the characters during this time. Next at .10 into the clip we see and action match as dead pool pushes wolverine out of the way. The action is then showed inside the room where deadpool locks the door so wolverine cant get in. This creates a dramatic effect. Starting around .59 we see crosscutting from one scene to another but they are all connected to each other. This crosscutting gives the audience an idea to what is happening around deadpool and wolverine as they try to save the world. At 1:54 there is a cutaway to a room where there is a group of people watching the action in anticipation. This relates to the audience and shows them the emotion that the people watching are feeling. At 2:19 there is slow motion. This slow motion shot of wolverines shirt ripping off shows the impact of him joining deadpool in what he is doing. The slow motion adds to the drama of the scene. At 2:23 we see a comedic insert of wolverines abs. This image is very high quality. At 2:40 there are visual effects this effects enhance the sci-fi image of the women and her powers. At around 2:49 we start a graphic match of Wolverines veins as the energy flows through them to to wires in the room with the women as her power is being drained. At 3:14 we start a jump cut to memories from wolverine these memories help the audience emphasize with Wolverine. Finally at 4:20 there is an eye-line match of wolverine looking at dead pool and dead pool looking back at him this creates an emotion undertone as they risk their lives to save the world.
Thank you for reading! I hope you enjoyed!
